The Schlossgut

Schlossgut Schmitt

The winery is located in Guntersblum am Rhein, about 20 kilometers south of Mainz, in the over 200-year-old Leininger Castle with adjacent farm buildings, wine cellars, and the castle garden.

History

At the end of the 18th century, the Count of Leiningen had Guntersblum Castle built. Due to Napoleon's occupation of the Rhineland, the noble family left their residence a few years later to flee to the other side of the Rhine.
The neoclassical building with late Baroque elements came into family ownership at the end of the 19th century after a turbulent history.
